Fall Winter 2011 Painting Collection by Andrew Agutos

This season I painted on either one of two formats, a 5 x 3 foot verticle canvas or a square. I’m using unfamilar but limited color combinations on each one. I’ve been less strict about design/perfectness- developing new ways visually for the colors to interact with each other, and also with the surface’s picture plane and edges. A mix of flat and heavy paint is used along with transparency and tangling of forms. I’m investigating how to open up the canvas by covering up a lot of what has been added. Each painting was approached with a different atmosphere and mood in mind. These can also be seen on my newly updated portfolio. Thanks for looking, any feedback is appreciated!
